Thread in the Air is an interactive textile piece that invites touch, sound, and projection to bring words to life on fabric. As audiences place their hands on the hand-stitched cloth, words ripple and sway, fold and tear—mimicking the delicate movement of threads. “To weave is to speak,” this work attempts to bridge language and fabric, reflecting on the shared origins of “text” and “textile.”
This work merges words and cloth into a tactile experience. In the moment of touch, a poem unfolds in a non-linear way, with text and textile woven together. Our narratives are stitched as much as they are spoken. Thread in the Air invites careful observance, of attentive and constant reverence. The piece reflects the ritual of its making—knot by knot, stitch by stitch—and the ritual of its existence, as an object that fabricates narratives, awaiting to be activated by touch.
Visitors can touch the surfaces and trace the light, as though building a relationship with the poetic text fragments as they merge and continuously regenerate. Ambient sound stimulates an additional sense.
